Cristiano Ronaldo has shared the first picture of his newborn baby daughter after his twin son’s tragic death.
The Manchester United star, 37 took to Instagram to post a picture with his wife, Georgina Rodriguez, 28, and all five of his children. His family appeared in good spirits, three days on from the devastating news of his newborn son’s passing on Monday night.
The Portuguese icon held his baby daughter in one arm while the rest of the Ronaldo family smiled for the photo. Taking to Instagram to address his 431million followers, Ronaldo thanked his fans for their touching support.
Ronaldo wrote: “Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us. We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures.
“Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family. Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world.”
The former Real Madrid man and his partner Georgina revealed back in October they were expecting twins. But the couple confirmed in Monday’s statement that their baby boy had not survived.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” their announcement read.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.
“We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”

The 37-year-old has also taken to social media to thank Liverpool fans for their heartfelt gesture during their 4-0 win over Man United, where both sets of fans held a minute’s applause in solidarity.
He wrote on Instagram: “One world… One sport… One global family….thanks, Anfield. Me and my family will never forget this moment of respect and compassion.”
Ronaldo also posted a video of the moment in the seventh minute – chosen specifically as it is the forward’s shirt number. So far the post has accumulated over 2.2million likes as the football community continues to rally around the star.
